You can trust me, Kibaki tells voters
President Kibaki wound up the election campaign with a passionate plea to Kenyans to re-elect him. Addressing the final campaign rally in Nairobi yesterday, the President declared he was headed for victory. He appealed to voters to come out in large numbers to vote for him and avoid violence. "I am sure of a good win. I am asking all of you to vote for us," he said. Kibaki told Kenyans that they can trust him and what he has done was evident. He warned the electorate against being swayed by the oppositions empty promises. "Those others have done nothing. They had a chance to work, but they did not. I am ready to continue with the work we have started," the President said. He hit out at the opposition, saying the leaders had failed to initiate any development when they had a chance to do so.
